Premier League Reserves Women Coach, Ronnie Di Felice, said:

“Senior Coach Malcolm Minty took a team of 11 players to Ulverstone. Due to the unavailability of some key players the team was restricted with a starting eleven for the game.

“Zebras started lively with a number of scoring chances, but it was Ulverstone who scored first following a free kick in front of the goals. Zebras replied to make it 1-1. Zebras scored after a good build up involving a number of players to deservedly take the lead. 2-1.

“Ulverstone counter attacked and they scored 2-2.

“Zebras again worked hard and took the lead 3-2.

“An inspired patch of play from Ulverstone saw them score two goals to  take a 4-3 lead with 10 minutes of normal game time left. Inspirational play from the team levelled the game at 4-4 and Zebras could have stolen the match with a number of scoring chances in the last minute of normal time.

“As they prepared for extra time, the team vowed not to give up and every single player made a strong commitment to increase their workload and desire to win the game. With no changes possible for the extra time period, would the Zebras last the distance !

“At the end of the extra 30 minutes of play Zebras scored 4 unanswered goals to win the cup game 8-4 from a shocked Ulverstone outfit.

“Not only did we score 4 goals but we ran them off the park with a spirited team performance. What an inspiration result following a disappointing weekend for the club. Coach Malcolm Minty was full of praise for this team and a very happy man. Hayley, Maddi, Gina and Krista scored the goals to take the Zebras into a semi final clash”.

Premier Women’s Weekend Match Reports

Premier League Reserves Women Coach, Ronnie Di Felice, said:

“The Zebra Reserves girls played a difficult game against a New Town Eagles side equal on points with us on Sunday. With a full strength side, the team played some quality football to take a 2-1 lead into the main break. With a number of positional changes the team restricted the Eagles to limited scoring chances and it was not until the final minutes of the first half that they scored a breakaway goal down the left flank. Striker Annika Coles worked hard to score our 2 first half goals.

The second half saw us lose our focus and intensity at times and it was an even game until Annika scored her third goal late in the half after some excellent attacking moves. With many chances not taken to finish the opposition off,  a late goal to Eagles kept us on our toes until the final whistle. A good result taking the team into a top 3 position”.

“The Senior Premier team played some excellent constructive football with good passages of play and a determined attitude to play well as a team. Eagles scored the only goal of the game well into injury time in the first half against the flow of play. The commitment shown by the team was encouraging to watch and should prepare us well as we now concentrate on our cup game at Ulverstone on the weekend.

Our defensive qualities has improved and we now give nothing away cheaply, opposition teams need to work very hard to score against us. It is a young , exciting team full of confidence who on their day will performance at a very high standard”.

“We do need more support watching the games and when both teams play at Queens Walk, (home ground) the ladies now have the kiosk operating and as you watch the game, you can have a coffee or a bite to eat. We appreciate all the support we can get at the home games”.

U/12 Boys Match Report

Saturday 28th April 2012

The Zebras U12 Division one played Hutchins School in a very close encounter.  The final score was 2-2 with a contraversial off-side call perhaps costing the Zebras a win.

Jake Ambler and Oscar Bell were the goal scorers.  Jak Rowbottom and Mitchell Jarvis were solid in defence.  A great team effort.
