A big congratulations goes out today to Zebras PFD Women’s Superleague Player, Laura Spandler.

Laura found her shine in the Senior women’s side, putting her young age aside to compete with the best female players Tasmania has to offer. Laura also scored the winning goal in the Women’s statewide cup final, showing composure and skill in a tense decider against Zebras sister club, Launceston City FC.
Laura began her playing career in Hobart Zebras youth girls in 2014.

The squad leave today before starting 4 days of competition against the other states, starting on Monday. They play 5 games in total, with a rest day on Wednesday. The footballers will be involved with off field education sessions during their rest day.
The Tasmanian side begin their week against Football West at 3pm on Monday, before taking on South Australia and Victoria on Tuesday. They will then be placed in a play off game on Thursday. The final day, on Friday there will be four teams selected for, all of the players attending the tournament.
Zebras’ WSL captain, Mady O’Brien said “the team are incredibly proud of Laura, she has shown that she has got what it takes to compete at a national level”
“She has so much to give to the game and we are confident she will show it whilst away representing Tasmania. Laura may be a fine young footballer but she is yet to hit her prime, in a couple years she will be one of the best players in the state. The ladies at zebras wish her all the best and will look forward to her return to finish off a solid season.”
